From the series Media, Mediated:
As part of Holden’s creative process, he mimics the seemingly random order found in nature. His original materials (brief film segments or snap shots, for example) are "mediated" through their use in several related but distinct media. In this way, the relationship between art media and genres, and the charged spaces they create, informs the results on all sides.
Canadian artist Clive Holden was born on Vancouver Island, and lives in Toronto with his wife, novelist Alissa York. Holden’s software-based random compositions, paper-based works, videos and films have been exhibited at: transmediale, Berlin; the Gardiner Museum/CONTACT Festival, Toronto; the Foreman Art Gallery of Bishops University, Sherbrooke; Images Festival, Toronto; International Film Festival Rotterdam; Art Gallery of Mississauga; Ryerson Image Centre, Toronto; European Media Art Festival, Osnabrück; CPH:DOX Copenhagen Documentary Film Festival/Danish Film Institute (winner of the New Vision Award); Anthology Film Archives, New York; Kino Arsenal, Berlin; the Muziekgebouw, Amsterdam; Light Industry, Brooklyn; London International Film Festival; Toronto International Film Festival; Pacific Cinematheque, Vancouver; and Bienal Internacional del Cartel en México, Mexico City.
