"Take my scepter/take my blade", is a piece set to Secondo Coro Delle Lavandaie by Roberto De Simone, from the opera, "La Gatta Cenerentola" (The Cat Cinderella). It is an activation of a predicative tarot reading recently given to the choreopragher. The themes of lust, longing, and desire inSecondo Coro Delle Lavandaie are a backdrop for this interpretation of potential futures - where the "future" encounters of lust, longing and desire are potentially fulfilled in the present through contemplation, and improvisational auto-erotic movement, through several chapters.
"Take my scepter/take my blade" was originally commissioned by Toronto Dance Theatre for its Singular Bodies program, and premiered at the Winchester Street Theatre on April 14, 2016.
